Our Environment
A Space Designed for Development
At Willow, we believe that the environment is an important part of a child's learning and development. Our center is designed as a child-centered, engaging and responsive environment where children can explore, learn, communicate and develop skills across different areas.
Inspired by the principles of the Reggio Emilia approach, we view the environment as an active part of the learning process. Each space, activity and interaction is intentionally designed to encourage curiosity, independence, communication and meaningful participation.
How Sessions Work
Learning Through Stations
Rather than spending the entire day in one room or with one intervention, children at Willow experience station rotation. Throughout their session, children move through different learning and intervention stations according to their individualized goals, developmental needs and program plan.
A child will experience:
Cognitive & Learning Station
Activities targeting attention, memory, problem-solving, pre-academic skills and cognitive development.
Communication Station
Opportunities to develop functional communication, language, comprehension and social communication.
Creative & Expressive Station
Art, sensory and creative activities that encourage self-expression, exploration and fine-motor development.
Social & Emotional Station
Activities supporting emotional regulation, social interaction, turn-taking, flexibility and relationship-building.
Movement & Play Station
Structured and unstructured play opportunities supporting motor development, coordination, body awareness and functional play.
Learning & Skill-Building Station
Individualized activities supporting academic readiness, functional learning, independence and everyday skills.
Why It Matters
One Child, Multiple Learning Experiences
Station rotation allows children to experience different environments, activities and professionals within the same center. It also creates opportunities to work on multiple developmental goals throughout the day while keeping learning active, varied and engaging.
Each child's rotation is planned according to their individual goals and current developmental profile.
"The stations are not simply different rooms — they are interconnected parts of one individualized developmental program."
Our Philosophy
The Environment as a Teacher
At Willow, we intentionally design our spaces to invite children to explore, participate and learn. From our cognitive classroom and therapy spaces to our creative areas and play environments, every space has a purpose.
We don't just provide therapy in a room. We create an environment where development can happen throughout the day.
Come see the space for yourself.
